about

“In March 2020, in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the UK Government imposed social and physical distancing measures on the population. These lockdown measures caused significant changes to all aspects of daily life. The current study examined how the passage of time was distorted during the lockdown period. Using an online questionnaire, day and week passage of time judgments were collected. In addition, measures of affect, task load and satisfaction with current levels of social interaction were taken. The results show that over 80% of participants experienced distortion to the passage of time during lockdown in comparison with normal.”

““There is a risk for a breakdown in the biological clock,” says Dr. David Neubauer, associate professor at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and a faculty member at the school’s Sleep Disorders Center. “Maybe you’re staying up later, eating regular meals in the evening but snacking or napping during the day. We have had people in whom circadian rhythmicity disintegrates.”

This album of four experimental pieces of electronic sound is an attempt at describing the severe time displacement of being under lockdown. The final track A Soft, Groaning and Exhausted Aaargh From a Speaker in Festarfjall, Iceland features audio from an initiative by visiticeland.com which encouraged people from across the world to scream/shout/vocalize how they were feeling and have their vocal broadcast at various speakers across the Icelandic landscape. The full video of the artist’s vocalization can be heard here; lookslikeyouneediceland.com?locale=en_US&share=a39115eb-0e96-4040-ba3e-c72ef8df1f90 The title track of the album Time Has Become Something of a Slop Bucket of Lost Floppy Clock Days to Be Honest With You was played on the Da-Dark Outside broadcast somewhere between the 26th and 27th of September 2020.
