about

In the early 1990s a cosmic squat-based circus-like sci-fi themed space rock band called The Martians was formed during the collapse of the BCCI bank circa 1992-1993. Based in a North London squat this collective performed, recorded music and took part in many gigs, happenings and surreal actions. For the very first time in 26 years unreleased music from this extraordinary collective is now being made available.

The Martians EP is released in the shadow of Louis De Trébon's passing, founding member, visionary leader and genius guitarist who steered this grungy, theatrical and crazy crew through gigs, rehearsals and numerous performances. The digital download extras include a nine page PDF booklet written by band member Sheer Zed with an in-depth essay, colour photos and liner notes on the story behind this legendary, anarchistic and unpredictable underground band.

This release is lovingly dedicated to the life and vision of Louis De Trébon and all former Martians and members of the Intergalactic Rescue Team. Rest in peace Louis. Death to homelessness and viva The Martian Revolution!

The Martians EP is featured on BandCloud's Substack blog. "This is a rather fascinating release...The music is almost like what you might expect to hear in the Roadhouse in Twin Peaks, through a skewed British (or rather Martian) lens. It was recorded during the Britpop era and shares some sensibilities, but is a world away in terms of intent." bandcloud.substack.com/p/bandcloud-365
